Vince Tobia
Vince started in the car business in Germany, way back in 1965. After marrying his beautiful German wife, Erika, his career began by selling vehicles to the United Stated military. By 1972, he and Erika had two children and decided to return to the United States for their American education. They settled in the Atlanta area, the hub of the south.
For several years, he was involved as a sales manager for a Volvo and Mazda dealer. Opportunity knocked again and Vince took a sales position selling the ultimate in cars, Mercedes-Benz. Being the top salesman for years, Vince felt the car business, in general, lacked serving the consumer. It was all about money and the customer was second in line. He realized the only avenue left was to create his own dealership and do it his way.
So, in June, 1989, along with Erika and his recently business graduate son, Michael (University of Georgia), they started Car Connection, Inc. in a small warehouse in Cobb County. They offered vehicles for less and steadily grew to have the largest warehouse of cars in the South East. Michael’s wife, Debbie, participated with her marketing skills and the word spread of Car Connection’s commitment to being a dealership with integrity. For years, Atlanta area credit unions have been recommending their members visit Car Connection and purchase their vehicles at below market prices.
With Vince’s vision fulfilled of serving the customer first with the best pre-owned vehicles at the lowest possible price, this question came calling, “What’s next?”
Would you believe…a radio show…Now you are listening, learning, and being served all at the same time.
“Herman the German from Dunwoody” (from the ‘Regular Guys’ morning show)
“Herman from Dunwoody” or as Vince says “Herman the German” (real name John Regan) is originally from the suburbs of Boston. He finally had enough of having only 3 1/2 months a year of nice weather and moved here in January of 1996.
