March 20th Broadcast

Watch live video from Car Connection Radio on Justin.tv

It was another beautiful Saturday afternoon broadcasting live from our dealer ship in Tucker, Georgia. A bright sunny day and customers were out and about seeking the sun shining on just the right vehicle to buy. (Actually, florescent lighting shining because the vehicles are all indoors).
Mean while before the show, we thought we had solved the static problem coming from our dealership speakers that broadcasts the show to our customers. The static is annoying and for reasons no one can explain to me, also causes our simulcast on Car Connection Radio to be unclear. Alvin, (the chipmunk), had this great idea to hook up a laptop to our radio tuner and upload it to WGKA 920 directly, (which means the weak AM signal in our building would be bypassed. In our test the day before, the laptop idea worked. Now, fifteen minutes before the show, Alvin hooked up a different laptop to the tuner for the show. (He had used the show’s laptop for the test). To get to the point, the show’s laptop has a sound jack and the replacement had no such option. You guessed it…no sound and back to being “Static Motors.” We will have a sound producing laptop next week whether you care or not. Frustration doesn’t produce a memorable show.
Now Herman, (The German) started off with introducing Alvin and I. We discussed the why’s of Car Connection being different from your typical dealership. You will have to start listening to the show to get the meat of it. This blog is still blogged down in the before the show’s problems.
We had a guest caller, Ms. Shirley Smith from the Credit Union of Atlanta explaining how and why people should join her credit union… since we are having an on site sale with Credit Union of Atlanta next Saturday. That ate up airtime and by now we were into the third segment. Of note, Herman mentioned a local dealer calling his used cars as pre-loved. Herman wanted to know if Car Connection had pre-loved vehicles to sell. Of course, that was open territory for off the cuff humor. I determined that a pre-loved vehicle had been driven to a drive in movie at one time. In the old days, when I was at our local Mercedes dealer, I believed we coined the phrase, “pre-owned,” to separate our Mercedes from the run of the mill, every day used cars. (At least, I want to believe we created that phrase).
The show was okay and on a scale of one to ten, I’d say it was about a seven. Till we have better reception, I remain….
Sincerely, Vince.
